The AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G lens is compatible with the HB-46 Bayonet Lens Hood. By extending and darkening the end of the lens, lens hoods are primarily made to stop stray light from entering the lens. Additionally, since the lens's end has been expanded, you now have some additional protection from unintentional impact.
