I have a variety of cameras in my house from WiFi Wyze, Ring, Eufy, Blink cameras to POE Reolink, Amcrest, and Foscam. I use the Wi-fi Cameras for their great motion detection and POE cameras for their 24/7 reliable recording. Out of all the POE cameras, Amcrest cameras are the most reliable and my favorite brand to date.I already have bullet-style, and turret-style Amcrest cameras but I was intrigued by the dome-type camera. This is my first dome camera and I am glad I went with Amcrest once again. I was worried about the reflection since some dome-type cameras will reflect when the sun hits at the right angle but so far, I had no issues after a week of testing.The camera was easy to assemble. Everything you need comes with the camera including the small L-shaped hex screwdriver to disassemble the dome cover. I took off the dome cover, attached the camera to the outside wall of my house pointing to the driveway, adjusted the camera angle, put the dome cover back on, and everything was easily set up and done. The camera angle can be adjusted by rotating the outer ring, inner ring, and the camera lens up and down to get that perfect angle.Inside the camera, there is a small reset button and a place to put an SD card. Since I am using my Amcrest NVR, I decided not to use the SD card. My NVR recognized the camera right away and I was able to set it up within minutes. I turned off the IR light of the camera since my driveway has enough light. This way, the camera can record everything in color at night. I attached two pictures: one of them is during evening on a cloudy day, and the other one is at night time. I was blown away by the night time image quality. It has so much detail with great contrast. My 5mp turret cameras are already good enough but this 8mp is just cream de la cream. I was also able to adjust the perfect shot with the varifocal len without losing details of the frame.A lot of people think varifocal len can be moved around the frame to zoom into particular area but in reality that's not the case. This camera len is fixed with the zoom len only goes in and out of the middle of the frame. That's the purpose of the varifocal without pan and tilt. It focus into the frame so you can perfect the angle of what you want to cover without moving or finding different spot to mount the camera.Overall, I am once again impressed with Amcrest. Their camera has great hardware and easy to set up. If you are looking for a POE camera with 4k resolution with varifocal len, this is the one you want to buy.
